Teachers' Workshop 2021
​Held in partnership with the Society for Neuroscience Chicago Chapter, the NUBAO BRAIN AWARENESS TEACHERS' WORKSHOP is a professional development workshop aimed at exposing Chicago area science educators to the exciting field of neuroscience and brain research, and to demonstrate how these topics can be introduced into the classroom through engaging, hands-on activities.

Certified teachers receive up to seven continuing professional development units for participating!
Keynote Lecture
Tamar Gefen, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences
Every year, we invite a neuroscience expert to speak about their area of research. Teachers will have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research from this keynote lecture.
Pedagogical Workshops
Learn through hands-on activities
Our pedagogical workshops will feature hands-on activities that teachers can use in their classrooms. Topics include neuroanatomy, chemical senses, motor adaptation behavioral neuroscience, and neurodegeneration. Materials will be mailed to participants prior to the event.

Educators interested in participating in the Brain Awareness Teachers Workshop must complete the short application form linked below. Deadline for application is 21 February 2021. Successful applicants will be notified promptly. Capacity is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later!
