2015 BRAIN AWARENESS TEACHERS WORKSHOP

Held in partnership with the Society for Neurocience Chicago Chapter, the BRAIN AWARENESS TEACHERS WORKSHOP is a professional development workshop for Chicago area science educators aimed at exposing them to the exciting field of neuroscience and brain research, and to demonstrate how these topics can be introduced into the classroom through engaging, hands-on activities.
This year's workshop will consist of:
1) Keynote lecture by Dr. Joshua Sanes, Ph.D., Harvard University
Title: "Assembling Neural Circuits in the Retina"
2) Lunch-and-Learn seminar with Kali Woodruff Carr, B.S., B.M., University of Florida
Ph.D. Student, Northwestern University
Title: “Rhythm: A Window into Auditory and Language Processing in the Brain”
*Lunch will be provided for workshop participants*
3) Pedagogical workshop featuring hands-on activities regarding neuroanatomy, sensorimotor nervous system, motor learning, and learning and memory.
